Anodizing is a technique that enables metal to develop a layer of oxide on its surface by submerging it in an electrolyte solution and applying an electric current. This process gets its name from the fact that the treated piece acts as the anode in the electric circuit. HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

The anodizing process starts with cleaning the aluminum piece as it exits the extruder. As a result, hydrogen forms on the cathode, while a layer of oxygen builds up on the anode, leading to the creation of an oxide layer that prevents further oxidation.

To the naked eye, the oxide layer appears smooth and glossy, providing an appealing finish. However, a closer look reveals a network of tiny fissures that enable dyes to seep beneath the surface, resulting in vibrant, glossy, and long-lasting colors. While these fissures enhance aesthetic qualities, they can also allow corrosive substances to reach the underlying metal, which may necessitate additional protective coatings to prevent corrosion.
